WWE Injury Updates

Something you hate to see, but unfortunately a real part of the wrestling business is injuries. Everybody goes through injuries sometime in their life, but when your job for 300+ days out of the year is to get slammed on a canvas and get jumped on by incredibly athletic men and women, you’re bound to stack up the injuries.

So here at GCSN, we wanted to give a rundown on WWE Superstars who are currently on the shelf, and what we know about a potential return.

Side note: This list is not kayfabe, these are legitimate injuries

Xavier Woods

On October 21st at a WWE Live event, Xavier Woods suffered a torn Achilles tendon. The New Day member is expected to be out anywhere between 9 months and a year, with an expected return listed as mid to late 2020.

Samoa Joe

In September of this year, the Samoan submission machine broke his thumb. Joe was said to be out for a couple of weeks, and is reportedly ready and waiting to be cleared to return to action.

Sasha Banks

The Boss hasn’t seen in-ring action since her loss to the Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at Hell in a Cell, due to an injury to her tailbone. According to reports, she is cleared for action and is just waiting for a return.

Aleister Black

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Black is out of action due to a knee injury, however the injury is described as just a “tweak”. Hopefully, that means Black will only be out for a couple of weeks.

Alexa Bliss

Bliss has been left off of television for a while now, and according to reports, the reason is due to a shoulder injury. No other information has been made available.

Velveteen Dream

The Dream injured his back in September of this year, which is why he hasn’t been involved in the NXT vs. Raw vs. Smackdown angles. According to Dave Meltzer, he is not expected to be back in time for Survivor Series.

Ember Moon

In October of 2019, Moon suffered an ankle and/or Achilles injury. Dave Meltzer has reported that she could possibly be out for a “decent length of time”. But if we look at other Achilles injuries, if that is indeed what it is, Moon could be looking at returning in a year.

Elias

In September of this year, Elias suffered an ankle injury and was pulled from his King of the Ring semifinal match against Chad Gable…oh I mean Shorty G. Also according to Meltzer, Elias should be returning at any time.

Sami Zayn

In the past few months, Sami has been dealing with shoulder problems, which is primarily why he has been paired up with Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. According to reports, Zayn is cleared for action but isn’t being used due to him being in his current role.

Nia Jax

Jax suffered a double ACL tear back in April of this year. She is to undergo surgery and should be back between early to mid 2020.

Ruby Riott

Riott is dealing with a bilateral injury that occurred earlier this year in February. She underwent surgery on her right shoulder this May and is soon to undergo surgery on her left shoulder soon.

Sheamus

I remember reports of Sheamus surfacing as far back as last year. Sheamus has been dealing with neck and concussion problems for quite some time now, and word around the wrestling business is that his career could possibly be over. No timeline has been set for his return.

Paige

PWInsider had reported a couple of months ago that Paige could be making her in-ring return soon. Paige was forced to retire due to the injuries. I do have to mention, however, that in response to the PWInsider report, Paige took to Twitter and said “Yep this is obviously true. Now if someone could lend me their neck that would be great…”. So take said report with a grain of salt.
