Another piece of the 2020 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series driver puzzle has been put in place, as Chip Ganassi Racing has announced that they would extend the contract of 2004 series champion Kurt Busch.
Along with Busch, Monster Energy will remain as his primary sponsor for the duration of the contract which is believed to be at least two years in length. Busch, who joined Chip Ganassi Racing before the start of the 2019 season, has one win at Kentucky this season.
“To have a multiyear deal, it’s comforting that I won’t have to answer the questions weekly about being a 41-year-old veteran in a sport where there’s a young push. To have that done, that’ll be refreshing, because the focus should be on track,” explained Busch at a press conference held Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway. It should be the on-track product, what happens out there racing, what happens during the week with different promotional things and continuing to build this sport that’s given me so much. Those are some of the big reasons why I signed on again to keep going, smile out there and go for the trophy.”
