New York Jets have dishes DL Leonard Williams to the New York Giants in return for a 2020 third-round draft pick, and a 2021 fifth-round draft pick. However, if the Giants extend Williams contract by the end of the season, the fifth-round pick will be bumped to a fourth-round. On top of this deal, the Jets have agreed to pay $4 million of the $6 million left of Williams Contract.
Since the Jets signed him as the 6th overall pick in the 2015 draft, Williams has yet to heighten his game to the level of play that they had hoped, despite being reliable and never missing a game for the team. With just 20 tackles this season, and no sacks, the Jets are looking to rebuild starting in the 2020 season as this season appears to be a wash with a 2-6 record.
Luckily for Williams, not much will change in terms of scenery as he will still be playing in MetLife, just a different practice facility. The two New York named teams will go head to head in Week 10. This trade is the first time in NFL history that both have come to terms of agreement.
