Jameis Winston Is A Bust, Time For The Bucs To Move On

Jameis Winston committed six of the seven total turnovers in London when the Buccaneers faced off against division rival, Carolina Panthers. He finished the game going 30/50 for 400 yards, 1 touchdown, 5 interceptions, and 1 lost fumble. Its time to cut ties with this guy. I’m not even sure that the Buccaneers can get any assets in return at this point. He’s had four years to develop and has made no significant signs of progress.

I remember a time when I thought, “Gee, this guy is something special. He’s going to do big things at the next level.” I was dead wrong. He’s not a leader that this team believes in anymore, nor should they. His play is the reason why this team is not in a better place. You cant blame his receiving core, as he’s got a multitude of solid weapons around him. Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and O.J. Howard coupled with Cameron Brate is VERY formidable. Not to mention, Bruce Arians is a pretty good head coach and specializes in making QB’s better. The stars were aligned for Jameis to get better, but for whatever reason he’s just not getting it. Every time it looks as if the Buccaneers are seeing progress, Jameis comes in and takes the team two or three steps back. If its not his play on the field, its always swirling controversy off the field. Sure, he’s been out of trouble for some time now but look at his play on the field…. it’s abysmal.

He reached a milestone today with his 100th career passing touchdown. Unfortunately, his bad play overshadows all of that. 68 picks and 16 lost fumbles, and throwing 61 percent in a career is not something to look past. He has a total of 109 touchdowns to a total of 84 turnovers. He is a bust. The Buccaneers need to start making a plan to move forward. They have a team that’s very capable right now and those windows don’t last for long due to age and salary cap. Time is of the essence.

Will the Buccaneers look to turn the page? Or will they try to turn Jameis around? What should they do?
