Chicago Bears MLB Roquan Smith is currently in a strange debacle. Smith practiced the entire week in preparation for the Bears game against the Minnesota Vikings, however, just before the game on Sunday, he was deactivated to participate. Rumors have come out regarding a car collision Smith was reportedly involved with on Saturday, however, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed this was not the case.
Bear’s head coach Matt Nagy did not reveal much of the issue regarding Smith’s situation, only letting slip that it was the team’s decision to bench Smith, not Smith’s own doing. Nagy was also unclear on whether or not Smith would travel with the team to London to play the Raiders on Thursday. The only known information on the nature of Smith’s situation is that it is a personal issue. In the meantime, while we wait for more information, Smith’s role in Chicago’s defense will be filled by MLB Nick Kwiatkowski.
