A trilogy fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier is apparently in the works. UFC President, Dana White expressed interest in setting up the fight in a recent interview.

“Stipe is recovering from that fight. He’s got some bumps and bangs from that fight. We’re waiting for him to heal and then yeah, we’re going to do the trilogy”- Dana white, via Barstool Sports.

Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic inside the first round (punches), winning the UFC Heavyweight title in their first bout at UFC 226. Subsequently, he ended Stipe Miocic’s historic run with the Heavyweight title. He did this after moving back up to the Heavyweight division after a long run in the Light Heavyweight division. During this time, Daniel Cormier was 13-0 in the Heavyweight division and was the reigning Light Heavyweight Champion making their first bout a “super fight”. Cormier went on to successfully defend his Heavyweight title by defeating Derrick Lewis in the second round with a rear-naked choke.

Stipe Miocic turned the page after his loss at UFC 226, coming back a year later and defeating Daniel Cormier in dramatic fashion to regain his Heavyweight championship at UFC 241. He defeated Cormier with an exciting 4th round TKO stoppage (punches).

There’s currently no date in place in when this trilogy will take place. There is also been no mentions from Daniel Cormier or his camp in whether Cormier is even interested in a trilogy fight or not. Even though the UFC wants to make the fight happen, things are still unclear and time will only tell if it will happen. But Dana White’s intentions are very clear. If the fight doesn’t happen, I’m sure that a second fight between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou is still a viable option moving forward.
