After the retirement of Paul Menard, Matt DiBenedetto will get his shot to prove he has what it takes at the top level of NASCAR, as he will take over the famed Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 full time in 2020.
DiBenedetto, who has contested the 2019 season with Leavine Family Racing, has proven he has the speed and desire to compete for the championship and will get that chance next year with the Wood Brothers.
“I am so excited about this opportunity to race for one of the most successful teams in NASCAR history beginning in 2020. The No. 21 Ford is one of the most accomplished and iconic cars in our sport and it will be an honor to join Wood Brothers Racing and help carry on the team’s tradition of success in NASCAR. I want to thank Eddie and Len Wood, Kim Wood Hall, Menards, Edsel Ford and Ford Motor Company for this opportunity,” DiBenedetto stated in a release by Wood Brothers Racing.
Currently, DiBenedetto has claimed six top-ten finishes in the last ten Monster Energy Cup Series races, including a second place finish at Bristol in August. The Wood Brothers will enter the 2020 season looking to claim with number 100 as a team with Matt DiBenedetto as its driver.
