On social media today New England Yetis announced that they have made the choice to move up to the National X-Ball League for the 2020 season.
I spoke with team member Tyler Winslow briefly after the announcement was made.
“We started the season with a solid 10 players and started with wanting to go into X-Ball. With the players we have now and the different playing styles we decided to break off and create our 5-man roster and play that. With all the players we had we found out we all meshed and played very well together. We ended up crushing it in event 2 and we came in second place as our first event playing together.”
They missed the first event in NEPL 5-man. With that information known, they are still sitting in fourth in the season standings. They are just 87 points out of first place. Event 2 saw them finish in second and Event 3 saw them finish in fourth.
Winslow also added:
“Some solid roster pick ups that included Job Clayburn, Luke Brosius, Winslow, Dave Marchant, and Scott Ouillette to complete our roster, we decided to finish this season as a team. We were playing so well that we thought it was a good idea to push for NXL. We all came together as a team and decided that our next move for 2020 would be the NXL. We want to make the New England Yetis name a staple and hopefully become a successful team with a lot more hard work and determination.”
The Yetis plan to finish this season with Boston Paintball in the D4 5-man Division. For the 2020 season they plan on pulling double duty. They will be playing in the NXL D3 5-man and are looking to play in Boston Paintball’s NEPXL D3 X-Ball.
