Dominant is the only word that can be used to describe Kyle Busch on Sunday as he cruised to his fourth NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series win of 2019 and second consecutive win at Pocono Raceway.
Busch led a race-high 79 laps of the 160 contested as his No. 18 M&M’s Hazelnut Spread Toyota Camry held the point for almost half of the race Sunday. The win is also Busch’s 55th of his career, a number which ties him for ninth all time alongside Rusty Wallace. The next person on the list is 7-time champion Dale Earnhardt who scored 76 wins in his career.
“I just can’t say enough about everybody at Joe Gibbs Racing. Everybody that works there works so hard to build these awesome Camrys. We’ve had an amazing roll this year here so far. We’ve been doing well. We feel like we’ve kind of given away a couple of wins that we thought we had a shot for, but overall, it’s been awesome to get back to Victory Lane here. Pocono’s been a struggle, but it’s a lot better now,” said Busch after his win Sunday.
Brad Keselowski finished in second on Sunday over two seconds behind Busch. Erik Jones, Kyle Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, completed the top three finishing in third. Chase Elliott extended his top-five streak to five on Sunday finishing in fourth while Clint Bowyer completed the top five.
The next round of the 2019 NASCAR monster Energy Cup Series takes place next Sunday, June 9th at Michigan International Speedway. The FireKeepers Casino 400 takes the green flag at 2:00pm on Fox Sports 1.
