Portland Trail Blazers were at home for game five against the Oklahoma City Thunder and this game was not a disappointment. Portland came into the game with a 3-1 lead after snagging the advantage in OKC in game 4. Game 5 was a rollercoaster that came to a crazy end.
One man needs to be named… Damian Lillard. Damian Lillard has been the man that we have been focusing on throughout the series due to the matchup he had against Westbrook, but Lillard had the last laugh. Lillard had a monster game scoring an impressive 50 points. He shot 17 for 33 and 6 for 8 from three.
The Blazers were down after the first quarter 37-29 and made up that gap to go into halftime up 61-60. Lillard had a big first half scoring 34 points. The second half was not the Blazers half in terms of scoring, but the last 3 minutes was. They made a massive ten point comeback and tied up the game at 115 before the craziest ending to a game I have ever seen.
The Blazers won game 5 with a walk-off three pointer from Damian Lillard from the Logo at Moda Center to send the Blazers to the semifinals in the West for the 12th time in franchise history. Damian had a monster game as well as Maurice Harkless scoring 17 points, CJ McCollum scoring 17 as well, and Kanter recording a double-double scoring 13 points and hauling in 13 rebounds.
The OKC Thunder also need credit for the amount of work they put in as well. Paul George scored a respectable 36 points shooting 14 for 20 from the field. Without Paul George this game and series would not have been nearly as close.
The Blazers now move on to the second round where they will take on the winner of the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs series where Denver currently leads the series 3-2. Stay tuned for future updates on the NBA playoffs.
