Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart might have to miss the first two rounds of the playoffs. Sunday night, in a game against the Orlando Magic, Smart collided with Nikola Vucevik and was helped off the court by trainers. Initially, it was thought to be a bruised oblique. After an MRI, the Celtics announced on Wednesday that Smart had torn his left oblique muscle. He will be out for four to six weeks, according to the team statement.
This means his will miss at least the first round against 5th seed, the Indiana Pacers. Smart’s energetic defensive presence will be sorely missed. The team is also missing Jayson Tatum, who was also injured in Sunday’s game. Luckily, Tatum’s MRI came back “completely clear”
Hopefully, Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, and Gordon Hayward can carry the team as they take on Indiana.
