The NBA has fined Anthony Davis $50k after his agent, Rich Paul, made public comments that the Allstar would like to be traded. By making the demand to be traded in a public comment and not with the team the league felt the need to fine Davis. This could be done to potentially set a precedent that players should not handle trade requests in this manner.
The league stated Davis was fined:
“for violating a collectively-bargained rule prohibiting players or their representatives from making public trade demands. The fine is for statements that were made by Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, in an intentional effort to undermine the contractual relationship between Davis and the Pelicans.”
It is unknown at this time if Anthony Davis plans to contest the fine or allow it as he finishes the season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
