The guy who said he would make the Babe look silly will be playing in the Bronx.
According to multiple reports, including Jon Heyman of Fancred, Ken Rosenthal of The Atlantic and Jeff Passan at ESPN, the New York Yankees have reached a deal with free agent Adamn Ottavino for three-years at $27 million.
The 33-year old right-handed closer was crucial to the success of the Colorado Rockies bullpen last season, holding hitters to a .158 BA, with 2.43 ERA over all. He also clocked in 112 strikeouts, which ranks him 4th among MLB relievers.
Ottavino will be a much liked diamond in the already stacked Yankee bullpen crown, as he will join names like the recently signed Britton, Betances, Green and of course their closer, Chapman.
Ottavino represents the continued strategy for the Yankees- a lights out bullpen that could turn any rough outing into a winnable game. He also replaces David Robertson who signed a two-year, $23 million contract with Philadelphia earlier this month.
Ottavino has a career ERA of 3.68 with 17 saves.
