Although he has 72 hours to change his mind, Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray is “determined” to play in the NFL.
The Heisman trophy winner currently has a contract with the Oakland Athletics that includes a signing bonus worth over $4 million. They drafted him in the first round in 2018 and the A’s have tried to secure Murray to their team and convince him to stay away from the NFL. The organization was even given permission from MLB to offer Murray a major league contract. However, it seems the draw of playing in the NFL has proven too much for Murray.

If Murray stands by his commitment to participate in the draft he can easily be a top pick in the 1st round having thrown for over 4,000 yards and ran for over 1,000 yards in his first season as a starter for Oklahoma. He had a combined 54 touchdowns through the air and on foot as well. By entering the draft Murray will forfeit his senior year at Oklahoma.
Murray will technically still be able to participate in Spring training for the A’s as well, although this may be unlikely due to the grueling schedule that he would find himself in as it takes places when the NFL season begins to ramp up.
