Twas the game before Christmas, and all through the land,
No one was one the field. Not even the band.

The banners were hung in the rafters with care,
With hopes that more trophies soon would be theirs.

The Eagles were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Super Bowls danced in their heads.

Ovi in his jersey and I, in the stands,
Had just gotten done partying with the fans.

When out at the ballpark there rose such a clatter,
I sprang from the seat to see who were the batters.

Away to the monster, I flew like a flash,
And ran to section M-6 with a dash.

The moon in the sky and the bases below,
Gave brightness to the field, covered in snow.

When what, to my wondering eyes I see?
Homeruns from Betts and a man named JD.

They were joined by a green and white gang, oh how quick,
And led by a backup QB they call Nick.

More rapid than Patriots, the players all came.
Coach Peterson shouted and called them by name.

“Now Jeffrey! Now Torrey! Now Ertz and Ajayi!
On Bradham! On Kendricks! On Cox and on Darby!

To the ends of the field! On our second down call,
Rush him and blitz him! From Tom, strip the ball!”

The confetti had settled, the parade now long done,
The fans cross the country are still having fun.

So both Eagles and Red Sox took to the ice,
To join with the Washington’s Stanley Cup paradise.

The Cup, with a twinkling shine in our eyes,
Shone with champagne of their championship highs.

As I drew in my head and was turning around,
On the ice, the marvel Ovechkin came down.

He wore a thick beard and a warm, fuzzy smile,
He jersey was battered, like he’d just skated miles.

A bag full of pucks he carried for fun,
In the back of the net they were put as he won.

His eyes, how they twinkled, after so many years,
He was able to overcome second-round fears.

And Ovi, with Backstrom and their buddy Holtby,
Skated circles past all of us. Man, were we beat.

A fourth was still missing, so we ran for the hardtop,
To meet Steph as he made a 30-foot shot drop.

The Splash Bros were there, joined by KD and Draymond,
To play some pick-up on our little frozen pond.

What a site it was to see all of the titles
All together and happy, enjoying the spoils.

The Cup and the Finals, Lombardi and Series,
Together as one, all the best and quite clearly.

But our time was short, as the night came to a close,
And one by one everyone went back to their homes.

Till all that remained was myself and a reason,
To remember the wonderful end to the season.

I watched as they took their cars and their planes,
So many ways, even duckboats and sleighs.

And I heard them exclaim, as they rode out of sight,

“Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good night!”
