When the Boston Bruins acquired Jaroslav Halak, they were expecting the veteran to be a solid back up to starter Tuuka Rask.
However, Halak has outperformed Rask in every stat, and some could say Halak should be starting over Rask.
In my opinion, both goalies are playing solid, and would not change what appears to be working in net, however if Rask begins to slip up as he can do from time to time, I would increase Halak’s starts.
And vice versa.
Halak has a goals against average of 2.40, a save percentage of .926, and 2 shutouts.
Rask has a goals against average of 2.53, a save percentage of .916, but has yet to record his first shutout of the season.
Although this may have not been planned, Boston has arguably the best goalie combo in the NHL right now.
