According to multiple sources, free agent starting pitcher Patrick Corbin and the Washington Nationals have agreed to terms on Tuesday.
The announcement comes from multiple high level sources, including Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports:
As stated above, the deal is said to be a 6-year contract, pending a physical. Reports are suggesting the deal is worth at least $126 Million.
While it seemed almost a guarantee that Corbin would be in Yankee Pinstripes, or in Philadelphia, the Nationals were always in the hunt for the ace. Reports are showing that not only money was a factor, but the length of the contract is what made both teams hesitate to pull the trigger. Both the Yanks and the Phillies were favoring 5-year deals instead.
Corbin, 29, is coming off his best season in the majors; spotting a 11-7 record with a 3.15 ERA with 200 innings.
