Long time head coach and CFB Hall of Famer Mack Brown, has been named the head coach at the University of North Carolina. Mack Brown, is back at UNC where he was head coach from 1988-1997 where he became the second most winningest coach in school history.

UNC hired Mack Brown following the release of Larry Fedora, who was the HC for the last seven years in Chapel Hill. Larry Fedora was let go following a 2-9 season where the Tar Heels only wins were against Pitt, and FCS Western Carolina. Fedora in his time as coach led the Tar Heels to a record of 45-43 and four bowl appearances.

Mack Brown is now in charge and is bringing back some of the same coaching staff he used at Texas. Defensive coordinator Greg Robinson will be rejoining Mack Brown after coaching for him in 2004 and 2013. Greg Robison will add experience, and knowledge to the coaching staff. Robinson brings in the knowledge of the NFL, and a long history of dominance in college football.

Tim Brewster is another name that we have seen on the coaching staff in the past under Brown. Brewster coached for Mack Brown from 1989-2001 where he was the tight ends coach. Brewster will return to Chapel Hill coaching the tight ends once again, but this time he has more experience and a bigger name to help with the recruiting process. Brewster last worked for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies.

With a lot to prove Mack Brown will have to use all of his tricks to get some recruits to flip to UNC, and he will need to get to work as soon as possible to get his team ready for the 2019 season. Will he bring the spark the Tar Heels need to become one of the top teams in the nation? Time will only tell, but make no mistake Mack Brown will give it his best shot to revive Tar Heel football.
