The New York Mets and Seattle Mariners have agreed to a trade! Wow, don’t you love MLB Hot stove rumors?
The details have been released on the trade and the Mets will acquire second baseman Robinson Cano and relief pitcher Edwin Diaz as well as 20 million dollars to help offset the remaining money on the Cano deal. In exchange, the Mets send outfielder Jay Bruce, pitcher Anthony Swarzack, top prospect Jarred Kelenick, as well as minor leaguer Justin Dunn and reliever Gerson Bautista.
My take: The Mets…. that’s really all I have to say, the addition of a .300 hitter is something the Mets had to do if they wanted to convince any of their big time arms to remain in Flushing, but at the cost of a potentially elite pro player in Kelenic, I do not think the 35 year old Cano coming off an 80 game season is worth it.
