Through social media, Manchester United staff revealed today that Alexis Sánchez could miss the rest of the calendrical year. Apparently, the Chilean attacker suffered a hamstring injury during training on Thursday, possibly as a result of the match against Crystal Palace the previous Saturday. The time span he’s supposed to miss covers two important matches — one at home on December 5th against Arsenal and another in Anfield on December 16th against Liverpool.
Nevertheless, United’s staff has also mentioned that the decision to cut the 29-year old is not set in stone since there’s a possibility for Sánchez to still appear in the matches.
In addition, they also touched on the rumors having to do with any conflicts with the player within the organization. Different sources of the media have repeatedly brought up the fact that Sánchez has failed to meet the expectations of the club and the fans, as he has been able to score only four times in thirty matches. However, in the tweet, United’s page made it clear that the absence of the Chilean from the Champions League on Matchday 5 was due to the complications of his injury, and not because of any unrest within the club.
In the end, while Sánchez’s presence at the club has indeed been uncomfortable, his talent may surpass any negative insight as the star has never failed to surprise, either at clubs he has played for or when saving the day for his national side.
