The Boston Bruins have one of the longest histories in all of the NHL.

Let’s take a look at my Top Five Bruins of All-Time.

5. Milt Schmidt:

Milt Schmidt played 816 games for the Boston Bruins, scoring 229 goals, and recording 346 assists, for a total of 575 points.

Schmidt was a four time All-Star, led the league in scoring in 1940, and was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy for league MVP in 1950.

On top of this, Schmidt not only won two Stanley Cups with Boston as a player in 1939,and 1941, but also won two Stanley Cups with Boston as General Manager in 1970, and 1972.

4. Phil Esposito:

Phil Esposito was a scoring machine for the Boston Bruins.

In 625 games played with Boston, Esposito scored 459 goals, and recorded 553 assists.

Esposito won the Art Ross Trophy for league’s point leader five times, along with the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1969, and 1974.

He also has 77 game winning goals for the Bruins, second all-time in Boston, and recorded the most hat-tricks in Bruins history with 26.

Esposito won the Stanley Cup in 1970, and 1972, and also played in ten All-Star games.

3. John Bucyk:

John Bucyk played 1,436 games for the Bruins, scoring 545 goals, and 794 assists for the organization.

Bucyk has the most game winning goals for the Bruins with 88, and won the Stanley Cup in 1970, and 1972.

Bucyk also played in seven All-Star games.

2. Ray Bourque:

Ray Bourque has played the most games as a Bruin with 1,518.

In those games he scored 395 goals, and recorded 1,111 assists.

In 1980 Ray Bourque won the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year, and would go on to add five Norris Trophies throughout his time in Boston.

Bourque played in 19 All-Star games, and scored 60 game winning goals for the Bruins.

1. Bobby Orr:

Although Bobby Orr only played in 657 games due to knee injuries, he was still able to score 264 goals, and record 624 assists for 888 points.

Orr has the best plus-minus in Boston history with a plus-minus of 574.

In 1967 Orr won the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year.

Throughout his time with the Bruins, Orr would win eight Norris Trophies, three Hart Memorial Trophies, two Art Ross Trophies, two Stanley Cups, and two Conn Smythe Trophies for Playoffs MVP.

Orr also played in eight All-Star games.
