The NASCAR season is coming to a close and this Saturday the Xfinity Series champion will be crowned. Two rookies have a chance to take home the title, but what are their chances?
The number one seed (according to NASCAR.com) is Cole Custer. Custer is not a new face to this situation. Last year Custer won at Homestead. He led 182 of the 200 lap race. Being a veteran, he has the ability to take home the championship.
The number two seed is the rookie Christopher Bell. Bell has won an impressive seven races, and he has proven he can win in high pressure situations. Capturing the win in Phoenix, he has the momentum and the wins to carry him to victory.
Bell is not the only rookie chasing the championship. Tyler Reddick has also had an impressive rookie season, but Saturday he will face a tough task. He started the season off strong by winning at Daytona. Since his win at Daytona he has had five finishes in the top five. However, he has placed fifth, second, and sixth in the semi-finals. He may be the underdog, but he has the skill to steal the show.
The fourth seed going into Saturday is Daniel Hemric. Hemric does not have a win this season, but he has finished, an impressive, 15 times in the top five. Hemric carries in a lot of momentum coming off of his second place finish at Phoenix. Due to Hemric’s consistency, he has a very good chance of taking home the championship.
With the way Christopher Bell has been racing, he is the favorite going into Homestead, but I would not write off the other guys. Each one of these drivers has the ability to steal the show, and be the one celebrating in victory lane.
You can catch the championship race Saturday, November 17th at 3:30 ET on NBCSN.
