Fantasy football coaches rejoice! Oh wait, you didn’t draft Adam Thielen? Don’t worry, a lot of us didn’t, and we are all kicking ourselves in the rear end for it! The Minnesota Viking’s new number one target, and yardage machine, is tearing up the NFL. With a jaw-dropping 74 receptions, 925 receiving yards, and 6 receiving td’s, its easy to see how Thielen is rapidly making his case for the best WR in the league today. Not only that, but if things continue as they are, he will surpass his last season totals (91 receptions and 1,276 yards) within the next 3 or 4 games, and we are only in week 9. The big purple football catcher is definitely living up to the hype.
Originally undrafted, the Viking’s WR attended a team tryout session in 2013 where he landed the job. The 2017 season saw the “breakout” of Thielen; Racking up career numbers in yards and receptions, while adding td’s and solid blocking. 2018 looks to showcase the rise and domination by this young talent. Thielen has already passed some notable WR’s on his way to making history. In week 5 he caught seven passes for a total of 116 yards and one td, making him the only player in NFL history to record 5 straight games with at least 100 yards receiving.
Thielen is well on his way to earning a seat at the table of great WR’s. His game changing efforts have paid off greatly, moving Minnesota to 4-3-1 on the season. The team sits in 14th in total ppg, 9th in total yards, and 6th in passing yards per game. Minnesota is 2nd in their division behind the streaky Chicago Bears and one spot above Aaron Rodgers’ Packers. The Vikings host the Detroit Lions Sunday in Minnesota.
