NASCAR CEO and Chairman Brian France, grandson of NASCAR founder William H.G. France, was arrested Sunday evening in Sag Harbor Village, NY and charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance.
As stated in a news release, France was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, and held overnight and arraigned Monday morning at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court. “Mr. France was observed operating a 2017 Lexus northbound on Main Street failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign. Upon traffic stop, it was determined that Mr. France was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Upon search of his person, due to a lawful arrest, Mr. France was in possession of oxycodone pills.”
Under the NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy, France could be suspended, subjected to further drug testing, or required to enter a rehab facility.
