Nick Saban has decided who his starting quarterback will be this season. Tua Tagovailoa, who led the Tide to a comeback victory to win the national championship game last season, will replace two year starter Jalen Hurts.
Hurts expressed his frustration saying, “For me, no one came up to me the whole spring, coaches included, no one asked me how I felt. No one asked me what was on my mind. No one asked me how I felt about the things that were going on. Nobody asked me what my future held. That’s that. So now it’s like when we try to handle the situation now, for me, it’s kind of late, it’s too late, the narrative has already been created.”
Hurts has taken the Tide to the championship game two seasons in a row, winning one last year, so his frustration isnt suprising. However, many scouts and coaches think Tua might be the best quarterback to play for Saban. People are also saying the pro-style QB is the most NFL-ready QB Saban has ever had on his roster. The last QB graded as high was A.J. McCarron.
It will be interesting to see if Hurts still has a role in the offense and if he declares for the draft after this season, or attempts to transfer to another school.
