The heir apparent to Joe Flacco just finished playing in his first preseason game as a Baltimore Raven. Jackson finished the game 4 for 10, 33 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. He also rushed 8 times for 35 yards. Not a great stat line but it’s preseason. Its also the kids first time playing in an NFL game scenario so let’s not judge him off tonight’s performance.
There is a lot of hype surrounding Jackson and what his role will be this season. The Ravens coaching staff have made it clear that “Joe Cool” will be their starter. That’s obvious. With the Ravens recent lack of success, it leaves me wondering how long until we see Lamar Jackson take over the role of starting quarterback?
I think that depends on how the Ravens start the year off. I see them possibly winning their first 3 of 5 to start the season, with wins coming against Buffalo, Cincinnati, & Cleveland, and losses coming from Pittsburgh & Denver. Let’s say they lose 3 of 5? I still don’t see Jackson coming in, but there will certainly be a lot of buzz. 4 of 5? That’s when I think people will be calling for Flacco’s head. Baltimore is a tough city and they have had enough of the mediocrity. They are craving for success again, and it doesn’t look like they are going to be getting any from the last place Orioles.
Let us know your thoughts! Over/Under 10 games for Lamar Jackson this season?
