The Yankees made an unexpected trade on Tuesday when they traded three prospects for LHP Zach Britton.
This trade comes after many rumors indicated the Yankees were initially targeting J.A Happ from the Toronto Blue Jays.
Britton, who is posting a 3.45 ERA with 4 saves this year, adds more depth to a Yankees bullpen that has been rather impressive.
They have combined for a 2.90 ERA to accompany 29 saves and 300 strikeouts.
Britton had his best season in 2016, going 47-for-47 in save opportunities with an impressive 0.54 ERA. He also finished fourth in that years Cy Young voting.
The Yankees, who have fallen to 5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East race, hope this will turn their fortunes around in this second half of baseball.
