As reported by WWE, two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez made an appearance at the WWE Performances Center in Orlando Florida.
While there, he trained with coach Norman Smiley, participated in a DDP Yoga session with Diamond Dallas Page and attended the NXT tapings at Full Sail University. Velasquez, whose last UFC fight took place at UFC 200 when he TKO’d Travis Browne in the first round, holds numerous UFC records including:
- Most Knockouts at Heavyweight
- Most Takedowns at Heavyweight
- Longest Heavyweight Reigning Champion
- Most total strikes landed at Heavyweight
Velasquez seemed to truly enjoy the atmosphere at the PC and the work that superstars do in the ring:
“My experience here has been amazing,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to being here and learning as much as I can. I’ve been a fan of the sport since I was a little kid, and now I get to participate in it.”
At this time, there is no word as to what this will mean for Velasquez’s future relationship with WWE. Countless athletes have been invited to the PC over the years, most coming simply for the experience of getting inside the ring. However, some come out because of a general interest in the industry and have ended up signing with the company. Whether or not this will be the case with Velasquez, it remains to be seen. But maintaining a good relationship with one of UFC’s most popular fighters is by no means a bad idea.
Velasquez is most famous for defeating current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in 2010 at UFC 121 in the first round.
