All-Star weekend is always a fun time in any city, from the Home-Run Derby to the actual All-Star game itself. However, more recently a fan favorite has emerged, in the Celebrity All-Star Softball game.
WWE star ‘The Miz’ took home Most Valuable Player last night after he went 2-for-2 at the plate and robbed ESPN analyst Tim Kurkjian of a definite base hit before turning a double play. Thinking he can be like the Babe, he called his shot in the second inning, but was only able to double to center.
He also pitched a scoreless fifth inning, setting the National League down in order.
The American League entered the last inning down 14-3, before they decided to make things interesting. They scored seven runs, but ultimately came up short. Washington Wizards point guard John Wall ripped a triple that sent Nationals Park into a frenzy.
The Cleveland Indians will host next year’s All-Star game, and there’s no doubt that The Mizz, a Parma, Ohio native, will be back to defend his MVP, and that Progressive Field will welcome him with open arms.
