Over the course of the next week, I will be handing out report cards for NBA teams recent draft selections.
Who better to start with than the NBA champions.
There wasn’t a whole lot of action with the Warriors on draft night. They held on to their only pick and did not make any moves up or out of the draft.
With the 28th selection they elected to go with Jacob Evans, a shooting guard from Cincinnati.
Golden state was looking for a wing this time around and were very impressed with Evans’ workouts.
He’s going to fit in with the Warriors system nicely as he can defend multiple positions, switch on defenders out on the perimeter, knock down open three’s, facilitate and block shots.
At 6’6, 210 pounds and a wingspan of 6’9 those measurements helped Evans become one of the top defenders in the ACC last year.
The versatility he brings to the table is undoubtedly going to help him fit right in with the modern NBA.
Side note: With talks of Draymond Green looking to turn down any extension offers from the Warriors and waiting for a max deal, this could potentially be a great replacement a couple years down the road if the Warriors do end up losing the former defensive player of the year to free agency.
