In this ongoing series here at the Game Changer Sports Network we have been looking at players on each team most likely to break out and have a superstar season.
So far in the series, we have looked at Arizona, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Buffalo. If you missed your team or you are just curious as to who we have chosen, feel free to go back and find those articles.
For the hot and cold Carolina Panthers, we have chosen WR Devin Funchess. The 6 -foot-4 inch, 225 pound WR was originally drafted as a compliment to Kelvin Benjamin.
Now Benjamin has been traded to Buffalo and the Panthers wideout crew is desperate for someone to really step up and be the next superstar.
In 2017, his number of taegets sky rocketed, and his production dramatically improved as a result. He had 63 receptions on 111 targets last season. In his first two seasons combined he had 54 receptions on 121 targets.
He ended the season with 840 reception yards and 8 touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who didn’t even start a game until Benjamin was traded.
Look for Cam Newton to rely on Funchess a lot this year alongside TE Greg Olsen. Expect Funchess to be the number two, if not the number one guy heading into the season.
