Since receiving micro-fracture surgery on his right knee back in October, Daniel Murphy has been sitting on the DL since the start of the season. However, as announced today by the club, the Washington Nationals have activated Daniel Murphy and are set to have him start in Tuesday’s game against the New York Yankees.
33 year old Murphy had great numbers last year, it .322/.384/.543 with 23 HR, and 93 RBI in 593 plate appearances. His return will provide a much needed boost to that the Nationals are looking for to break away from the Atlanta Braves to claim the number one spot in the NL East.
As mentioned, Murphy will make his season debut tonight, and play DH against CC Sabathia.
