Johnny Manziel will continue his football career, but it won’t be in the NFL this season. Manziel signed a contract with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday. Two years removed from any organized football, Manziel remains a long shot to ever play in the NFL again.

Manziel was drafted with the 22nd pick of the 1st round in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Over the course of 2 seasons, he threw 7 TD’s, 7 INT’s, with 1675 yards. Manziel was ultimately released on March 11th, 2016.

The troubled quarterback has been the subject of numerous off and on the field incidents including:

August 22, 2014: Fined $12,000 for a hand gesture directed towards the Washington Redskins sideline.

November 24, 2015: Demoted to 3rd string after a video surfaces of Manziel partying during the team’s bye week.

February 5, 2016: The Dallas Police Department opened a criminal investigation into Domestic Violence claims by former girlfriend Colleen Crowley. The charge was eventually dismissed after the parties agreed to a plea bargain.

Manziel remains hopeful that he would one day play in the NFL again. The quarterback has struggled with alcohol and mental health problems; Even stating that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
