New York Knicks All-Star Kristaps Porzingis has been in Spain with the Liga ACB squad Real Madrid rehabbing his torn ACL, the New York Post’s Marc Berman reported.
It was previously thought that Porzingis was receiving his treatment in his home country of Latvia. However, after flying home to his hometown of Leipaja, Porzingis made the move to Spain to conduct his offseason rehab at the Real Madrid training facility where both their basketball and soccer teams train. Porzingis spent three plus years in Spain prior to his time in the NBA where he played for Sevilla Casajol.
The timetable for Porzingis’ return is still very much up in the air. Most likely Porzingis will return 10 to 12 months after his injury, which occurred on February 6th in a matchup at the Garden with the Milwaukee Bucks. On Tuesday, General Manager Scott Perry said at the NBA Draft Lottery that the Knicks may know more specifically when his return will be at the six-month period (after his injury), which would be in early August.
