As announced by WWE at the top of the 1 o’clock hour, the “Baddest Woman on the Planet, Ronda Rousey, will have her first shot at WWE gold in only her second scheduled match, at WWE’s Money in the Bank on Sunday, June 17th.
This will be a tall order, as she will face the reigning Raw Women’s champion Nia Jax, who won her title at Wrestlemaina and retained it at Backlash earlier this month. She defeated Alexa Bliss on both occasions.
Here is what WWE.com had to say:
Nia Jax shockingly named Ronda Rousey as her next challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship this morning at the NBCUniversal Upfront in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.
This will be Rousey’s first title opportunity since joining WWE earlier this year. When we last saw her compete on WWE TV, she teamed with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to defeat Stephanie McMahon and Triple H in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania.
So what does this mean? Is Rousey about to get her first taste of Championship gold? Is WWE losing faith in Jax as a champion?
At this time, all we can do is speculate. Hopefully we can gain more answers following tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw, which Rousey is currently NOT scheduled to appear on.
