Anchor and sideline analyst Justine Ward had a conversation with one of the NBA’s all time legends. Ward spoke to Hall of Famer Walt Frazier on May 8th about the Knicks’ star player Kristaps Porzingis and his knee injury. She reported Frazier saying that he does not see Porzingis playing next season at all.
James Dolan, the Knicks owner also said publicly back in April that Porzingis could miss the entire 2018-2019 season.
Dolan continued with that statement by saying that the Knicks can’t just sit around and wait for him to come back. They want to develop a team and then integrate him back in when he returns.
Porzingis tore his ACL back in February, and with no reports of any setbacks in his recovery, it’s somewhat surprising hearing these comments being surfaced by people around the organization.
To add to the strangeness of the situation, KP recently said that he was “hopeful to be ready for the start of the 2018-2019 season.” So as you can see two very conflicting comments coming from the Knicks’ organization.
I would recommend taking these comments made by Dolan, and Frazier, with a grain of salt as I can hardly picture Kristaps having to sit out the entire season next year.
Maybe this is some type of crazy Dolan scheme being implanted for a season of tanking that is about to come or maybe the information he is portraying does have some truth to it. We’ll have to wait for more info on this one to gain more understanding on the status of the up and coming Latvian.
