For the third year in a row, the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins are playing each other in the Second Round.
Even more interesting, Alex Ovechkin has never won a playoff series over Sidney Crosby.
After Pittsburgh winning Game 3 last night 3-1, the series is now tied 2-2 with Game 5 tomorrow at 7:00 PM ET in Washington.
With Evgeni Malkin and Carl Hagelin back in the line up, Ovechkin and the Capitals are going to need to continue playing well if they are going to avoid yet another playoff disappointment.
Penguins’ Jake Guentzel has had an incredible playoffs so far with 10 goals and 11 assists in 10 games.
Super star Sidney Crosby does not even have as many points as Guentzel, with 8 goals and 11 assists.
Tensions have gotten to a breaking point however due to several dirty hits, one resulting in Tom Wilson being suspended three games for a hit to the head on Aston-Reese that broke his jaw, and gave him a concussion.
At the same moment that Jake Guentzel scored his second goal of the night in Game 4 to seal the win, Washington’s T.J. Oshie landed a vicious hit on Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang, which lead to Oshie and Letang fighting immediately after.
This rivalry is one of the most lopsided rivalries in the NHL, however with this series now down to a best of three, I feel the next three games have the potential to be extremely exciting and physical.
