After their 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay yesterday, the New Jersey Devils have found themselves down to the Lightning 2-0 in the Eastern Conference First Round.
In the second period of yesterday’s game, the Tampa Bay Lightning scored three times in just 2 minutes and 47 seconds.
This resulted in the Devils being down 5-1, and Goalie Keith Kinkaid being replaced by Cory Schneider, who saved all 10 shots he faced.
Kinkaid now has 9 goals against on 46 shots, giving him a save percentage of .804 for the series.
The hard part about whether or not to start Kinkaid or Schneider moving forward is the fact that several goals this series have simply been unlucky bounces for Kinkaid, such as Defenseman putting the puck in their own net.
However, this is the playoffs, so lucky or unlucky, teams will not change something that is working until it proves to no longer be successful.
The Devils were able to score 2 goals in the third, but were unable to make the full comeback losing 5-3.
Game 3 will be played Monday night at 7:30 PM ET in New Jersey.
