Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester United. What do those teams all have in common? Zlatan scored or assisted in each of his debuts there. Now you can add LA Galaxy to that incredible list.
With LA Galaxy down 3-1 to their in-city rivals LAFC, in the 67th minute, fans started to chant. Not for LAFC. Not for Galaxy to score. But for Zlatan. “We want Zlatan” rang throughout the stadium, and Galaxy manager Sigi Schmid didn’t disappoint.
In the 71st minute, “The Lion” stalked his way onto the pitch. A noticeable buzz was in the air as LA Galaxy and LAFC fans alike watched Zlatan Ibrahimovic start directing his offense the way he wanted. With Galaxy scoring just two minutes after he entered the game, you could tell something magical was going to happen. Then, in the 77th minute, he did what everyone in the stadium was waiting for. He belted a 40-yard volley into the back of the net to equalize.
The stadium erupted. The Lion said he was hungry in his first press conference, and he came to feast. Showing that no matter his age he will always be world class. With the game tied, he just had to put the exclamation point on his debut, and he did it with classic Zlatan style. He flicked a header straight over the keeper in the 90th minute to seal the victory for his new squad and announced his arrival in LA with style.
And now on the header, what a debut pic.twitter.com/7kxl6ezJ5r
