Last night, the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning played for first place in the Eastern Conference.
Yes, there is still over a week left of games, however with the Bruins 4-2 win, Tampa Bay is no longer first in the Eastern Conference for the first time since October 18th.
The first period was a fairly close period, except for the last 57 seconds.
In the last minute of the first period, the Bruins were able to score 2 goals to take a 2-0 lead going into the second period.
J.T. Miller was able to make it a 2-1 game in the second period, however Bergeron was able was able to record a goal just over half way through the third to make it 3-1 Boston.
Tampa Bay Defenseman Victor Hedman made it interesting when he scored with just over 6 minutes remaining in the game.
Brad Marchand was able to seal the win for the Bruins when he scored an empty net goal with less than a minute left in the game.
This is not the last time Boston and Tampa Bay will face off before a possible playoff series; Boston will travel to play Tampa Bay Tuesday April 3rd at 7:30 PM ET.
However, Tampa Bay has the possibility to take back first place in the Eastern Conference tonight as the Bruins only have a one point lead and have a night off, along with the Lightning playing the New York Rangers in what should be a win for Tampa Bay.
