In their first season as an NHL expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights have broken every record for an expansion team in their inaugural season.
The most impressive record Vegas was able to break was most wins in their inaugural season, where they were able to get 34 wins in just 50 games; the previous record was held by the 1993-94 Anaheim Mighty Ducks and Florida Panthers who were able to get 33 wins in their inaugural seasons.
With their 4-1 win over Colorado Monday night, the Golden Knights have officially clinched a spot in the playoffs and will be attempting to bring the Stanley Cup to Vegas.
Vegas is currently 48-21-7 earning them a 5 point lead over San Jose for first place in the Pacific Division.
The Golden Knights also hold an impressive home record of 27-9-2; this can be a huge boost come playoffs as nobody knows what to expect as this will be Vegas’ first time in the playoffs.
Vegas will host Arizona tonight at 10:00 PM ET as the Golden Knights look to obtain yet another home win with just six games remaining.
