With the closing of the Northeast Regional Semifinals, Boston University and the University of Michigan are set to play for a spot in the Frozen Four and a chance to win a National Championship.
Fourth seed Boston University was able to upset Cornell 3-1 and continue their push for a Frozen Four appearance.
Cornell took the lead 1-0 in the second period, however Boston University was quickly able to tie the game, and then take a 2-1 lead with roughly 15 minutes remaining in the third period.
The Terriers would notch an empty net goal late in the third to complete the 3-1 win.
Michigan was able to get a 3-2 win over Northeastern after a hard fought matchup.
Michigan took the lead 1-0 in the second, with Northeastern tying the game before the end of the period.
Michigan would once again take a lead and make it 2-1, just 5 minutes into the third period.
The Huskies were able to tie the game with just over 10 minutes remaining, however Michigan would once again score with just under 5 minutes left and was able to hold off Northeastern.
Boston University and Michigan have a lot of history and with two very talented teams, this makes for an interesting Regional Championship game.
The game will take place at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA, March 25th at 4:00 PM ET.
