The UFC’s first trip to Chile finally has its main event. Although not officially signed, this fight is expected to be officially announced within the coming days. Argentina’s Ponzinibbio has won 6 fights in a row with the most recent being an impressive decision win over Mike Perry. Santiago is currently ranked #10 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings.
His opponent Kamaru Usman hails from Nigeria and has won 11 fights in a row including his last win, a dominant decision over Emil Meek. Usman is ranked ahead of Ponzinibbio, and currently sits at #7 in the welterweight division.
This fight is a clash of styles; Santiago prefers to stand and trade, while Kamaru is a ground and pound fighter. While I do see this fight going Kamaru Usman’s way easily, I don’t see him getting the finish. I do however see him smothering Santiago Ponzinibbio and winning a dominant decision much like his last fight.
