With their 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, Nashville’s 15 game point streak has come to an end.
The Maple Leafs were able to score 5 goals in 28 shots against Vezina Trophy candidate Pekka Rinne to end his 14 game winning streak; a franchise record for Nashville.
This was also Toronto’s Auston Matthews first game back after missing 10 games due to a shoulder injury.
Matthews was able to record 1 goal, and 4 shots on goal.
Currently tied for first place with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Predators are having an impressive season with hopes of winning two more games than last year.
Nashville will look to shake off this tough loss and move forward.
With 9 games remaining (7 against current playoff teams), the Predators can’t afford to let this discourage them.
Nashville will travel to Minnesota to take on the Wild Saturday at 8:00 PM ET.
Over in the East, the Columbus Blue Jackets have been on fire winning their last 10 games in a row, finding themselves third in the Metropolitan Division.
This winning streak includes wins over San Jose, Vegas, Colorado, Philadelphia, and Boston; all current playoff teams.
This also includes a 4-0 win over Florida who is one point shy of the second wild card spot in the East, and are 11-3-1 in their last 15 games.
In their final seven games of the season, Columbus will only play two current playoff teams.
This gives Columbus a chance to find themselves in a good spot heading into the playoffs, as they seek to avenge their 4-1 Conference Quarterfinals exit to Pittsburgh last year.
