The Pittsburgh Penguins have 13 games remaining in their season and currently sit second in the Metropolitan Division, 1 point behind the Washington Capitals.

Pittsburgh is also two time defending Stanley Cup champions.

After a shaky start to the season, Pittsburgh is appearing to have found their stride and are looking more and more like their playoff form.

With the Penguins acquiring Derick Brassard via trade with Ottawa, Pittsburgh now has arguably one of the deepest offensive cores in the league.

Will Pittsburgh be able to pull off the three-peat?

This has not been done since Mike Bossy led the New York Islanders to four straight Stanley Cups from 1980-83.

However, the Tampa Bay Lightning are having one of their strongest seasons, currently first in the entire NHL, with a roster that is going to be extremely difficult to beat in a seven game series.

Other teams that Pittsburgh could potentially have to go through are Philadelphia, Washington, Boston, and Toronto, all teams that would love to stop Pittsburgh’s race for a three-peat.
