“I want to go to a contender” were the words that Richard Sherman said right after he was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Friday.
As of Saturday, he is the newest member of the San Fransisco 49ers. He joins them on a three year deal. For those unaware, this does in fact mean that he will face his former team twice a year.
The 49ers are on the back half of a rebuild but they still have a lot of work to do. Getting Jimmy Garoppolo from the Patriots and re-Signing Marquise Goodwin was a great start.
Add Sherman and now we have something we can build around. The deal is set to be worth $39 million dollars.
The 49ers likely won’t be contenders this season but over the next three seasons they will be a force in the league.
