Last seen in 1995 with the Milwaukee Brewers and their motorcycle with a sidecar as a bullpen vehicle, this feature has been gone from Major League Baseball for decades. This season, thanks to the Arizona Diamondbacks, we will see the return of bullpen vehicles, as the D-backs will have an OnTrac sponsored golf cart.

OnTrac is a regional shipping service which the D-Backs have partnered with, and will display their logo prominently on the ball cap of the cart throughout the 2018 season.

The bullpen cart will be an option for players to use, and not a requirement. Meaning if players want to come walking out to “Wild Thing” blaring and fans going wild, like Ricky Vaughn in “Major League”, they are able to. The club has also invited visiting clubs access to the transportation if they so choose.

The introduction of the bullpen cart came in 1950 when the Cleveland Indians debuted their “Little Red Wagon”. Many teams throughout the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s implemented the use of some form of bullpen transportation. Derrick Hall, team president and CEO, stated “… we’re excited for this special delivery to come to Chase Field.”

What are your thoughts on the cart making a return to The Show?
