With Florida currently being 19 points behind Toronto for the third seed in the Atlantic Division, the only hope they have for playoffs is to secure one of two wild card spots in the Eastern Conference.
Despite having a long way to go a few weeks ago, the Florida Panthers have gone 9-3-0 in their last 12 games to come within just 3 points of Columbus for the second wild card spot in the playoffs.
In this stretch of wins the Panthers have beaten Washington, Pittsburgh, Toronto, and New Jersey.
All of these teams have the potential to make a deep playoff run this year.
Although all four of these games were home games for Florida, they have shown that they can beat these teams, and are playing good hockey as the regular season comes to a close.
The Panthers also have a 3 game advantage over both current wild card teams, New Jersey and Columbus, which allow the Panthers to have a solid chance of snatching the second wild card spot from Columbus.
With 21 games remaining for the Florida Panthers, 12 of which are home, this gives the Panthers enough time to find their way into the playoffs if they continue to play strong hockey.
Florida will host Buffalo tonight at 7:30 PM ET as they look to extend their current win streak to 5 games.
